Tickets still are available to hear Sal Giunta, recipient of the Medal of Honor for his actions in combat in 2007 in Afghanistan, speak Wednesday at the James and Coralie Centofanti Symposium.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. at Stambaugh Auditorium. Tickets are free and can be picked up at the Stambaugh box office during regular business hours. For information, call 330-941-2136.

While under heavy enemy fire, Giunta sprinted toward cover and engaged the enemy.

City man arrested

YOUNGSTOWN

Police say a man they spotted who fell off a bicycle early Monday was wanted on a warrant charging him with driving under the influence.

An officer on patrol noticed a bicycle on the ground about 12:40 a.m. Monday at Glenwood and Lake avenues and when he went to investigate he found Dennis Bruce, 32, of Spring Meadow Circle, in a nearby yard.

Reports said Bruce told the officer he was riding the bicycle and fell on the ground and had been drinking. A records check revealed the warrant, which is out of municipal court. He was arrested on the warrant and taken to the Mahoning County jail.

Joshua Pastore, 35, of Bazetta Road was sentenced to two years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to failing to stop after an accident and felony drunken driving.

Pastore rear-ended a car on North Road near Main Street in Weathersfield Township on March 12, then fled the scene, according to Weathersfield police. A Weathersfield officer spotted Pastore and his damaged vehicle on state Route 46 in Mineral Ridge and arrested him a short time later.

Pastore was convicted of drunken driving five times previously — in 1996, 2003, 2008 and two times in 2009, court documents say. Judge Peter Kontos of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court also ordered that Pastore serve a lifetime driver’s license suspension.
