Monster Trucks coming to Covelli
YOUNGSTOWN
The Toughest Monster Truck Tour will return to Covelli Centre on Feb. 20 and 21. Five monster trucks will compete, including world record holder Bigfoot. The show starts at 7:30 both nights. ‘Dynamic Earth’ at planetarium
YOUNGSTOWN
The Ward Beecher Planetarium at Youngstown State University opens its 2014-15 season with a new show titled “Dynamic Earth.” Special premiere showings are set for 8 tonight and Thursday as part of the area’s 7 Days of STEM celebration.
In addition, the planetarium’s regular Friday and Saturday shows return this week, including the popular live look at the night sky with “Fall Skywatch” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and “This Is Our Sky” at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Valley, Pittsburgh artists show works
YOUNGSTOWN
“Rust on Rust,” an art show featuring works by 20 Youngstown and Pittsburgh artists, will open Friday at Greyland Gallery, corner of South Hazel and West Boardman streets, downtown. A reception will begin at 8 p.m. that day, with free admission and refreshments by Yo Doughnut Company. The evening will end with a performance by Baltimore rap artist Height. The show was organized by Mahoning Valley native and Pittsburgh-based artist Katelyn Gould.
Book awards reveal finalists

Carl Hiaasen, Laurie Halse Anderson and Jacqueline Woodson are among the 10 authors on the National Book Awards’ long list for young people’s literature.
Hiaasen was nominated for “Skink-No Surrender” and Anderson for “The Impossible Knife of Memory.” Woodson was cited for “Brown Girl Dreaming.”
Winners will be announced Nov. 19.
