Jameson hospital to merge into UPMC network

NEW CASTLE, PA.

The Boards of Directors of Jameson Health System (JHS) and UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) have signed a nonbinding letter of intent to merge Jameson into the UPMC network.

This integration will enable JHS and UPMC to achieve their vision of growing health care services in Lawrence and Mercer counties, and beyond. A UPMC-Jameson partnership will ensure world-class quality and long-term continued access to health care for the entire region, said Steve Warner, Jameson Health System board chairman.

The affiliation will enable Jameson to benefit from UPMC’s world-class clinical, educational, and technological resources and allow Jameson to remain ahead of the curve in health care technology, information systems, and quality assurance, important functions that Jameson would have had difficulty achieving without the resources and expertise that UPMC brings, Warner said.
