STEM week begins

YOUNGSTOWN

The Seven Days of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) festival will run from Monday to next Sunday.

The festival will feature events throughout multiple locations including OH WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology and Youngstown State University with hands-on activities and STEM student for a day.

The activities are in preparation for the first Silly Science Sunday of the year.

Spa La Jeane to open

BOARDMAN

Spa La Jeane, a salon and day spa at 7210 Bristlewood Drive, will open at 9 a.m. Monday. The spa features massage, effleurage, facials, body scrubs, waxing, manicures, pedicures, hair-salon services, sunless tanning, sauna sessions and make-up application.

Guests are offered four levels of luxury for facials, manicures, pedicures and massages.

Specialty facials and massages, as well as half-day and full-day packages also are available.

Racino set to open

AUSTINTOWN

The Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course is set to open at noon Wednesday. The race track and video lottery terminal casino is a $250-million investment.

It will employ more than 400, with the majority of the new hires local.

Thoroughbred horse racing on the 1-mile track will begin Nov. 24.

Matalco prepares to break ground

LORDSTOWN

Ground will be broken here Wednesday for the Brampton, Ontario-based company Matalco Inc. The $100 million, 200,000-square-foot aluminum billet manufacturing plant will employ up to 80 people.

The new facility will be under construction at its site in the Ohio Commerce Centre on Tod Avenue in the coming months and completed by early 2016.

Howard Hanna celebrates reopening

POLAND

The Hanna family of Howard Hanna realty will celebrate the reopening of the company’s Poland office Monday. The office is located at 100 W. McKinley Way.

Talmer Bank has ribbon-cutting event

WARREN

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Talmer Bank and Trust’s grand reopening in Warren took place Friday.

The banking center, at 185 E. Market St. downtown, is newly remodeled.

The Trumbull County commissioners administrative building purchase allowed Talmer to get its employees out of the old Wean Building and keep those workers downtown.

The renovated banking center has a new 24-hour drive-up ATM along with an existing walk-up ATM.
