The traditional blessing of animals celebrates the life of St. Francis of Assisi, whose feast day is Oct. 4.

New pastor

YOUNGSTOWN

The Rev. David Kamphuis will be installed as pastor of Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmount Drive, during worship at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 21 by Deaconess Judy Hoshek of the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.

After the service, a celebration luncheon reception will take place in the fellowship hall.

The Rev. Mr. Kamphuis is a graduate of Calvin College and received a master of divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus.

His focus is inner-city ministry. He served at First English Lutheran in Columbus; St. John’s Lutheran in Philo, Ohio; and Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg, Ohio.

North Jackson Church of the Nazarene, 113 Rosemont Road, will host the Gloryway Quartet at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Dourocher Family Band of Minnesota will play at 6:30 p.m. today at Calvary Bible Church, 2878 Warren-Meadville Road. A nursery will be provided. A free-will offering will be taken.

On healing

CANFIELD

Life Care Ministry Center, 5357 S. Raccoon Road, will present Joan Hunter, minister, author and healing evangelist. She is president and founder of Hearts 4 Him Ministries. A miracle and healing service is planned at 7 p.m. Sept. 23 and 24. A healing school will be at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sept. 24.

Praying for teachers

COITSVILLE

Victory Christian Center, 3899 McCartney Road, will dedicate a special portion of worship services at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday to bless and pray for all teachers, who are invited to attend. Senior Pastor David L. Thomas is the author of “A Teacher Gift.”

90th anniversary

Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave., will mark its 90th anniversary at vespers at 4 p.m. today, followed by a dinner at the Orthodox Center with entertainment by Ukrainian youth dancers.

A liturgy will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday with Bishop Daniel of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of America. A luncheon and program will follow.Revival planned

Mount Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Ave., will conduct its annual citywide revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday with the Rev. James Craig Bowie as evangelist.
