CANFIELD
“A Celebration of Faith through Art” will be showcased during an opening reception planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Canfield Presbyterian Church, 140 W. Main St.
The event will feature local artists’ inspirational artwork celebrating God’s gift of creativity through painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and woodcarving. The gallery will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. next Saturday and Sept. 27 and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 21 and 28 and throughout the week by appointment.
The show will be juried, including a “people’s choice” award. Admission is free. For information, call 330-533-5509.
Leadership workshops
YOUNGSTOWN
New Beginnings Outreach Ministries, 2007 S. Schenley Ave., will sponsor leadership workshops at 9:30 a.m. today.
On Friday, Pastor Melvin D. Trent was consecrated as apostle over United Body of Christ Multicultural Fellowship, consisting of 13 congregations, at Family Fellowship Church of Christ in Gahanna, Ohio.
Classes to start
NEW WATERFORD
Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 state Route 46, will resume Wednesday classes for adults, teens and children next week. Classes are free, except for those with a book, and are open to the public. All classes, except for Grief Share, will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and last about 12 weeks.
Child care for those 5 and younger will be provided.
Classes to be offered are:
“The Seven Pillars of Health,” based on a book by Donald and Mary Colbert, for men and women and taught by Corina Wellman and Lynne Halverstadt.
“Understanding God,” a foundational study of who God is, taught by Pastor Mark Plegge. The course is a requirement for anybody interested in leading any ministry or teaching a class at Abundant Life. It also will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Sundays and taught by Darlene Peddicord for adults and by Josh Graham for teens.
“School of the Seers,” a practical guide on how to see in the unseen realm, for men and women, taught by Sherry Hupp.
“End Times, Tribulation: Are we There Yet?” will examine the connection between current events and end times biblical teachings with Art Toot.
GriefShare, a method to maneuver through grief, led by Betty Welker, with a start time of 6:30 p.m.
Youth Class for all teens is a Bible study by Josh Graham that will be followed by basketball.
Kids for Christ for 5- to 12-year-olds will include Bible memorization, practical application and recreation with Senior Pastor Jeff Schoch.
Sunday morning teachings, “Covenant: The Power of Agreement,” will begin Sunday and continue through Oct. 5.
Pastor Schoch will launch the series on biblical covenants that also will include installments by Pastor Plegge and Pastor Ben Cope.
