CAMPBELL

City police arrested two people on drug charges, among others, within two hours Thursday.

At noon, police stopped 52-year-old Bruce E. Rinda of Utah Avenue in McDonald for driving with several large cracks in the windshield and a burned-out brake light.

Rinda was found to have a “failure to reinstate” driving status. His car was then searched, and seven white oval-shaped pills, which Rinda said were given to him by his grandmother.

Rinda was charged with prescription label required, and also was issued traffic citations for failing to reinstate and for driving an unsafe vehicle. He is set to appear in Campbell Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Shortly before 3 p.m., police, responding to a report of trespassing, noticed a car parked at the back of Campbell Memorial High School’s visitor lot. Upon arriving at the car, officers observed a burnt suspected marijuana cigarette in the center ash tray. Police seized the marijuana, along with $18 in cash.

The driver — identified as 18-year-old Heaven Lynn Townsend of Logan Avenue in Youngstown — was accompanied by a 14-year-old girl from Austintown.

Townsend was charged with possession of drugs, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and criminal trespassing. She was taken to the Mahoning County jail. She has a hearing Friday in municipal court.
