POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:
HUBBARD
Sept. 2
Violation: A 23-year-old Hubbard man was ordered into court after a police officer in the 500 block of North Main Street said he saw a man burning trash in violation of the city’s open-burning ordinance.
Sept. 4
Criminal damaging: Someone drove through and did an estimated $200 in damage to a front yard in the 500 block of East Liberty Street.
Sept. 5
Harassment: A Princeton Avenue woman said her boyfriend has made calls to her that are verbally abusive in nature but not threatening.
Identity fraud: An East Liberty Street man told officers he and his wife have received nearly daily calls from telemarketers who apparently obtained their personal information, even though they are on the Do Not Call registry.
Sept. 6
Harassment: A Prescott Street girl said a boy, 16, has been sending her harassing Twitter messages, including a correspondence saying that she should kill herself.
Sept. 7
Harassment: A Hillcrest Avenue woman reported having received two such calls, including a man’s threatening to kill her.
LIBERTY
Sept. 3
Arrest: Danaryll W. Green, 18, of Holly Drive, Girard, was booked at the Mahoning County jail on an outstanding township warrant.
Theft: Three trees were removed from a patio of a home in the 1300 block of Virginia Trail.
Arrest: Jennifer Foley, 26, of Woodside Avenue, Youngstown, surrendered on a Liberty warrant.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 4100 block of Monticello Boulevard after someone had smashed a bedroom window. Two flat-screen TVs and jewelry were taken.
Criminal damaging: Someone in the 1100 block of Tibbetts-Wick Road tried to force open two of a vehicle’s doors and did about $3,000 in damage.
Identity theft/damage: A Pleasant Valley Drive man noticed a $137 unauthorized charge to his account for an upgraded cellphone, which also had a shattered screen.
Sept. 4
Arrest: Authorities at the Mahoning County jail picked up 28-year-old Bobby L. Burkey IV. Burkey, of Woodworth Road, North Lima, was charged with failing to appear in court.
Citation: Police issued a minor-misdemeanor citation charging 38-year-old Rushad Chambers of Fifth Avenue, Youngstown, after receiving a report that someone intentionally had released a pit bull near a construction crew. No one was injured, however.
Vandalism: Someone climbed the roof at Citi Trends, a clothing store at 3489 Belmont Ave., and removed the copper pipes from two air-conditioning units, destroying one unit. Damage came to about $30,000.
Arrest: Laqueshia A. Mitchell of Atkinson Avenue, Youngstown, was taken into custody at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. The 21-year-old Mitchell was wanted on a township warrant.
Counterfeit: A man reportedly tried to exchange a phony $20 bill at a Belmont Avenue bank.
Criminal damaging: A car in the 4400 block of Belmont Avenue was found with a shattered passenger-side window. Damage was estimated at $200.
Trespassing: Authorities received a harassment complaint from a resident in the 500 block of Gypsy Lane, then charged 55-year-old Linda F. Bray of Bentley Avenue, Youngstown, with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct. An intoxicated Bray knocked on the person’s door and was on the property despite having been told not to return, a report stated.
Sept. 5
Criminal damaging: Someone in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive used to key to damage a vehicle’s finish, resulting in a $400 damage estimate.
Theft: Police received a tip that two men had stolen an undetermined amount of lumber from a residence in the 1700 block of Pleasant Valley Road.
Drugs: Suspicious activity near Belmont and Trumbull avenues drew officers’ attention before they issued minor-misdemeanor citations charging Teresa Sheehan, 51, of Lakeview, Ohio, and Timothy Pisano, 60, of Pittsburgh, with marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Found were 5 grams of suspected marijuana in a bag, two tins containing suspected marijuana pipes and a jar with a small quantity of suspected marijuana, police said.
Sept. 7
Arrest: Authorities answered a noise complaint in the 50 block of Euclid Boulevard, where they took into custody Kamealla Crafter of Compass West Drive, Austintown. Crafter, 21, was wanted on a warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court on a theft charge.
Domestic violence: Police charged 30-year-old Fuquan B. Carroll of Fifth Avenue, Youngstown, with the crime after an officer alleged having seen Carroll suddenly punch his younger brother’s head and chest in an unprovoked attack.
Sept. 8
Arrest: Police arrested 35-year-old Shawn L. Paulin of Benton Road, Salem, at the Mahoning County jail. He was wanted on an outstanding township warrant.
Theft: A Youngstown woman alleged her boyfriend, of Northview Drive, refused to return her $100 cellphone.
GIRARD
Sept. 5
Criminal mischief: Someone kicked and damaged a shed door and damaged a cabinet at a residence in the 700 block of Trumbull Court.
Menacing: Three people in the 700 block of Trumbull Avenue reported a neighbor had threatened them as part of an ongoing feud.
Harassment: A Shannon Road girl reported a Youngstown boy, 14, has been harassing her via social-media websites.
Theft: An East Main Street woman alleged her former boyfriend has stolen money and other items from her over a two-month period, resulting in an estimated $1,283 loss.
Sept. 6
Breaking and entering: Authorities booked 50-year-old Kathy M. Blair of Monongah, W.Va., and 51-year-old Clinton E. Ashley of Mannington, W.Va., on breaking-and-entering charges after getting information that two people had entered a foreclosed home in the 100 block of East Main Street. Police found an open rear door, a cut padlock and a set of bolt cutters nearby, they said.
Sept. 7
Arrest: Warren police picked up 29-year-old Brett L. Brown of Adelaide Avenue, Warren. He was wanted on Girard and Warren warrants.
Sept. 8
Animal complaint: An East Kline Street man reported three loose dogs approached as he walked his dog.
Menacing: A North Avenue woman said her former boyfriend called her doctor claiming she was abusing her prescription medications in an attempt to harass her.
Sept. 9
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a Trumbull Avenue apartment and stole a power washer, two weed trimmers and a snake device to remove clogs. The loss came to $1,150.
