Photography contest winners announced
Entries in “The Beauty of the Woods,” a photography competition organized by the Friends of Poland Forest, are currently on exhibit in The Gallery at Wittenauer’s, located at 122 S. Main Street in Poland, through Sept. 21. The public is invited to attend a reception recognizing the winners on Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. in The Gallery. The date of the reception has been changed from the previously announced date of Sept. 7.
The photographs are on display Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Contest winners in the adult division are Paula Ludt (Poland) - Best of Show for “Bridge into Fall,” Allison Butz (Brookfield) - first place for “Hanging Out,” Dana Nicholson (Boardman) - second place for “A Wooden Curtain” and Don Harrold (East Palestine) - third place for “Blue Bells Close Up.”
In the teenage division, the winners are Jordan Downie (Poland) - first place for “Bucks,” Sophia Gawdyda-Suggs (Poland) - second place for “Myrkri Skogur,” Sabrina Leonard (Struthers) - third place for “Perception” and Cody Schlabaugh (Poland) honorable mention for “Sunlit Path.”
Winners in the 12 and under division are Madelyn Tonus (Poland) - first place for “Purple Tears” and second place for “Tall and Twisted,” Tyler Boggs (Boardman) - third place for “Infinity Bridge” and Cassie Tonus (Poland) honorable mention for “The Dragonfly.”
All photographs were taken within Poland Municipal Forest and capture the natural beauty found there. Winners in each category and Best of Show will receive a $25 gift certificate from YM Camera or The Photo Place. The Best of Show winner will also receive a gift certificate for free framing from Frameworks.
