Man arrested after discussing drugs on 911 call

MOUNT PLEASANT, Tenn.

A man has been arrested in Middle Tennessee after dispatchers heard him discussing drugs on an accidental 911 call.

WKRN-TV reports Grant O’Connor was charged with simple possession and possession of drug paraphernalia after his arrest in Mount Pleasant.

Dispatchers traced the call when they heard him talking on an open line about getting high and going to a drug dealer’s house.

According to a police report, an officer located O’Connor in a car that was pulling out of a restaurant parking lot. The officer searched the car and found a bag of marijuana and drug paraphernalia underneath O’Connor’s seat.

O’Connor was released on $3,500 bond the following day. There was no phone number listed for him in the phone directory.

Vermont town looking for stolen electronic sign

BRIGHTON, Vt.

A Vermont town is considering a reward for help finding whoever stole a brand new electronic sign that tells drivers how fast they’re going.

Brighton’s $3,200 sign was so new it hadn’t been insured yet. Town Assistant Joel Cope says it was last seen Sept. 2.

Cope says the police chief used a matching grant to help buy the sign. It had been erected on a street heading to Brighton State Park because nearby residents had complained about speeders.

The Caledonian Record reports the select board is considering a reward for information that would lead to the recovery of the sign.

Penn State student gains rep as squirrel whisperer

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.

A Penn State student is gaining an Internet reputation as a “squirrel whisperer” for befriending, feeding and dressing up a furry little friend she has named “Sneezy.”

Junior Mary Krupa tells WJAC-TV that she’s able to dress up the squirrel in party hats or get Sneezy to hold doll-size props simply by feeding the animal.

Krupa and Sneezy’s exploits are chronicled in a Facebook page titled “Sneezy the Penn State Squirrel.”

So far, the squirrel is proving quite popular. Its Facebook page has more “likes” than a page dedicated to the school’s official mascot, the Nittany Lion.
