Car stopped on South Side for missing rear plate yields drugs, cash

Police arrested three people and cited a fourth after pulling over a car for having no rear license plate early Thursday morning on the South Side.
Reports said a car driven by Andre Harrison, 29, of Warren, was pulled over at about 12:05 a.m. at Rush Boulevard and East Lucius Avenue. Harrison told police he had no driver’s license when asked.
He also told police he did not have a Social Security number, reports said, and he also resisted telling police his name.
As he was taken out of the car officers noticed a scent of marijuana and one of the three passengers, Devin Towns, 39, of Youngstown, was reaching in his pockets like he was trying to hide something, reports said.
Towns told police all he had in his pockets was cash but when he was searched police found a bag of suspected crack cocaine. Later, they also found 10 pills in his shoe and $890 in cash.
Towns was arrested on charges of possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drugs/crack cocaine and taken to the Mahoning County jail.
Police also found a bag of suspected marijuana on the driver’s side mat, reports said.
Another passenger inside the car, Jodeci Miles, 22, of Youngstown, was searched and police found suspected cocaine and marijuana in her clothes. She was arrested and taken to jail on charges of possession of drugs/crack cocaine and possession of marijuana.
Harrison was taken to jail on charges of obstructing official business and having no operator’s license.
A fourth person, Tanisha Gilmore, 38, was cited on a charge of possession of drugs after police found three pills on her.
