Ballet seeks dancers for ‘Nutcracker’
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
Ballet Western Reserve will put a unique twist on a classic when it presents “A Youngstown Nutcracker” Dec. 5-6.
The ballet by BWR Artistic Director Stas Kmiec encompasses the city’s history, and will include hundreds of performers from area arts organizations.
The classic ballet will take on a local twist as notable figures from Youngstown’s history will come to life onstage.
BWR hopes to collaborate with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra on the performance and is seeking financial help from sponsors and charitable foundations.
Auditions for dance roles from littlest angel to Sugarplum Fairy will be Saturday and are open to all area dancers age 6 and up who are enrolled in at least one class at BWR. Auditions for adult actors (speaking and nonspeaking) and boys are Sept. 20.
