Ohio city considers incentives for Amazon center
DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) — A central Ohio city is considering incentives to entice Amazon.com to build a $1.1 billion data center there.
The Columbus Dispatch reports development officials in the city of Dublin are asking council to approve incentives including 68 acres valued at $6.8 million for the project. Other proposed incentives include water and sewer lines, road improvements and performance incentives that could be worth up to $500,000 over 10 years.
The company hasn’t committed to the project, but says it’s always looking to expand its geographic reach.
The newspaper reports the data center would generate $9.6 million in annual payroll if the project is carried out.
The Dublin City Council is expected to vote on the incentives on Sept. 22.
