POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Sept. 2

Menacing: A woman reported having been threatened while at a Clingan Road business.

Sept. 6

Assault: A Fairweather Trail man suffered a minor injury after reporting he had been assaulted.

Sept. 7

Arrest: Thomas Tofilski, 28, of Morningside Drive, Poland, was arraigned on charges of aggravated robbery, assault, criminal damaging, domestic violence and resisting arrest after police responded to a domestic situation at the residence. Tofilski got into a scuffle with an officer and tried to get his firearm, authorities said.

BOARDMAN

Sept. 4

Aggravated menacing: Two juveniles walking on Prestwick Drive told officers a man threatened to run them over and shoot the accusers if they failed to get out of the street.

Burglary: To a residence in the 100 block of Maple Drive through an unlocked front door. Three flat-screen TVs were stolen.

Felonious assault: An Old Oxford Lane woman told police a man struck her multiple times with a skillet, a lid and a cinderblock during an argument about the man’s wanting to borrow money from her. Also, the woman’s boyfriend was being treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center’s Boardman Campus for a dislocated hip after reporting he had been knocked to the ground.

Theft: A woman noticed a variety of prescription medications missing from her Sierra Madre Trail residence.

Misuse of a credit card: A woman discovered that her lost electronic-benefit-transfer card was used without permission at a township big-box store.

Stolen property: Adam C.J. Celedonia, 30, of Market Street, Boardman, faced a felony receiving-stolen-property charge after police received information that a stolen credit card had been used at two Boardman locations.

Theft: A woman left SmartStyle Family Hair Salon, 1300 Doral Drive, without paying for $16.50 worth of services.

Theft: A woman fled on foot after reportedly stealing $75 worth of batteries from Walgreens Pharmacy, 7295 Market St.

Vandalism: A woman reported a teenager tossed a cup of soda at her vehicle while she was in a Boardman-Canfield Road fast-food restaurant’s drive-through.

Burglary: Took place in the 1500 block of Country Club Avenue, where more than $10,000 worth of gold jewelry was taken.

Sept. 5

Aggravated menacing: A manager with a Boardman-Poland Road electronics store reported an irate customer threatened to return with a gun after he had made a $100 deposit for a cellphone he later didn’t want. He was angered after being told the service provider could refund him, not a sales associate, a report showed.

Breaking and entering: Someone popped off a rear doorknob, broke into a home in the 100 block of Brookwood Drive and removed $500 worth of copper piping. Shortly thereafter, police received information about a similar crime at another residence in the 100 block.

Attempted breaking and entering/vandalism: Someone damaged a boiler room’s door in an attempt to force it open at a Youngstown-Poland Road residential-treatment center.

Identity theft: A South Avenue woman told authorities after receiving a free credit report last month, she discovered a $543 outstanding balance on an account that apparently had been opened in San Diego using her name, Social Security number and birth date.

Theft: A $500 iPhone was removed from a front porch in the 6700 block of Bluebird Lane.

Theft: A desk manager with a South Avenue motel told police a former worker stole a guest’s $60 nurse’s jacket.

Theft: Tamethia Jordan, 42, of Moyer Avenue, Boardman, was charged in the theft of a $49 radio from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: The president of a Market Street ambulance company alleged a former employer stole six reports from an office.

Harassment: A Fawn Court man reported a caller claiming he had won a new car and $8.5 million told the accuser he would need to first mail a $200 money order. The man recognized it was a scam, however, and lost no money.

Theft: Two people stole a $270 electronic tablet device from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A man in his late 20s or early 30s stole three pairs of sunglasses from Sunglass Hut in Southern Park Mall.

Theft: An Applecrest Court woman noticed $20 missing from her purse.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: An Oregon Trail woman said her former boyfriend failed to return the accuser’s 2015 Kia vehicle.

Theft: Police charged 19-year-old Kristen L. Gladwell after alleging Gladwell, of Wakefield Avenue, Youngstown, had stolen three incense sticks, two luggage tags, a T-shirt, mascara and other items from Walmart.

Sept. 6

Theft: Keith E. Allen, 58, of West Chalmers Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with theft and receiving stolen property after 11 power chargers and other items were taken from Five Below, 411 Boardman-Poland Road. Allen also had property that had been stolen from Family Christian, a Christian bookstore at 463 Boardman-Poland Road.

Drugs: While responding to suspicious activity on Boardman-Canfield Road, police cited Joel C. Ray, 29, of Orlo Lane, Boardman, on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Ray admitted having a small quantity of suspected marijuana and a suspected marijuana pipe, authorities said.

Theft: Austintown police handed to township authorities 42-year-old William S. Matsouris Jr., who was wanted on a theft warrant. Matsouris, of Meanderwood Drive, Canfield, was accused of stealing $400 worth of groceries Aug. 31 from GFS Marketplace, 7460 South Ave.

Identity theft: A Brookfield Avenue man learned that someone at a New York City automated-teller machine withdrew $100 from his bank account without authorization.

Theft: A man in a red T-shirt stole several tools, including a jig saw, from Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd.

Theft: Juan M. Hernandez, 32, of Coolidge Avenue, East Liverpool, was charged with taking a $60 wireless game controller from Walmart.

Theft: A Massachusetts man who acts as power of attorney for an aunt alleged that the aunt’s brother has been stealing money from her Market Street business.

Theft: Authorities charged 28-year-old Migdalia Saucedo of Cooper Street, Youngstown, with taking roughly $46 worth of undergarments from Walmart.

Theft: A wallet was stolen from a car parked in the 6900 block of Ron Park Place.

Theft: Five vehicles in the 6000 block of Ron Joy Place were ransacked. Several knives and a laptop computer were taken.

Sept. 7

Assault: An Oregon Trail woman alleged a man whom she had hired to perform landscaping and yard work threw a glass of iced tea at the accuser, striking her head and stomach, during an argument regarding a bill for services.

Vehicle theft: A 2007 Kia Rondo vehicle was stolen in the 3900 block of South Schenley Avenue.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 5700 block of Sheridan Road, though police found no signs of forced entry.

Citation: A traffic stop near Lemans Drive led to a citation charging 44-year-old Dilshod Kodirov of Lemans, Boardman, with operating a vehicle impaired.

Citation: Police responded to a report of a child not breathing at a Clifton Drive residence, where they cited Luis D. Garcia, 27, on a charge of marijuana possession. Garcia, of Clifton, Boardman, had suspected marijuana debris in the home, a report showed.

Domestic violence: William B. Crawford of Cook Avenue, Boardman, faced a felony charge after his grandfather alleged that during a fight, the 24-year-old Crawford had punched the accuser in his left eye, sat on and struck him again and threatened to stab him. The charge was elevated because of a previous conviction, a report said.
