The Western Reserve Port Authority hired Girard Councilman John Moliterno on Tuesday as its interim executive director. He will earn $88,000 annually.
Because the position is interim and consideration will be given to other candidates to replace him in the coming months, his contract can be terminated with a two-week notice.
But Ron Klingle, chairman of the port authority, which runs the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport and carries out economic-development activities, said Tuesday he thinks Moliterno is “the perfect choice.”
Klingle said Moliterno’s previous experience as a member and chairman of the port authority board and president of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber is a great asset.
He owns Pegasus Printing of Youngstown and has a good relationship with a large percentage of the business and governmental leaders of the community through the multitude of boards on which he has served, Klingle said.
The executive director position has been vacant since Rose Ann DeLeon went on sick leave early in the year. The board severed its relationship with her in March.
Moliterno said he will remain as a Girard councilman.
