Lawyer asks if others involved in Pa. school abduction

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A defense lawyer has suggested to jurors that his client helped someone else in the sexual assault of a 5-year-old girl kidnapped from school.

But former day care worker Christina Regusters is the only person charged in the bizarre, brazen case.

The defense remarks came in closing arguments today after more than two weeks of testimony that included a short appearance from the young victim.

Lawyer W. Fred Harrison Jr. says authorities have never resolved key mysteries surrounding the January 2013 crime.

He questions how his 21-year-old client could have hidden a child in her crowded household that day, and then assaulted her without anyone hearing the girl cry.

The victim says she was blindfolded during the overnight ordeal.

Prosecutors are expected to make their closing arguments this afternoon.
