Judge orders attorney to wear socks in courtroom

HARTFORD CITY, Ind.

An attorney who habitually appears in court without socks faces sanctions including possible fines if he shows up without them again in one Indiana courtroom.

Blackford Circuit Judge Dean Young issued an Aug. 25 order directing attorney Todd Glickfield of Marion to wear appropriate business attire, including socks and a tie, in future proceedings in Young’s Hartford City courtroom.

Glickfield appeared without socks in Young’s court Aug. 22. The order says that during a break in proceedings, the court advised Glickfield that he wasn’t appropriately dressed as required by court rules. The order says Glickfield replied, “I hate socks.”

The order also states Glickfield previously appeared in court without a tie and with an open-collared shirt.

Fake Massachusetts license plate fools no one

CHICOPEE, Mass.

A Massachusetts state trooper noticed something a little odd about the license plate she spotted on a car on Interstate 391 in Chicopee.

Upon closer inspection, there was a lot odd about it.

The “license plate” on the car pulled over last week was actually just a piece of cardboard.

In a poor attempt to replicate a real Massachusetts license plate, the letters and numbers were crudely drawn with a red marker.

The word “Massachusetts” and the phrase “The Spirit of America” were written in the appropriate places in blue pen.

The 20-year-old woman driving the vehicle was charged with driving with a suspended license and attaching false plates.

Holy cannoli! Man eats 13.5 pastries in 5 minutes

SCRANTON, Pa.

Holy cannoli!

A man ate nearly 14 cannolis in five minutes during an eating contest at an Italian festival in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Twenty-five-year-old David Wood beat out seven other contestants at La Festa in Scranton.

Wood told The Times-Tribune that he’d never even tried the cream-filled pastries before last week’s event.

The Kingston resident won with an official total of 131/2 cannolis, since a piece fell out of his mouth as time expired.

Wood took home $150 in prize money. He joked he’d spend his winnings on hot dogs to train for the famous July Fourth eating contest at Coney Island, N.Y.
