Police training

HOWLAND

Fifty Trumbull County police officers started a two-day Advanced Roadside Enforcement Training program Monday, updating their knowledge and skills to crack down on those who drive impaired by drugs and alcohol. The program at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites near the Eastwood Mall Complex updates officers on changes made by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, said Paul Monroe, Howland police chief. Monroe said he believes driving under the influence of drugs has become a larger problem countywide in the past 10 years, so training on procedures for that type of crime is increasingly important.
