18-year-old woman admits to running over two people at Warren tavern

Police say a fight outside the Boogie Down Club, 2382 W. Market St., and the exchange of gunfire between two cars passing in front of the tavern early Sunday, may have been unrelated.
But two people standing in front of the tavern just after the fight were injured when an 18-year-old woman drove her car into them at 4:59 a.m. The woman said she was trying to avoid the gunfire but also had been drinking.
The driver of the car, Ranyia Miller, 18, of Warren, appeared in Warren Municipal Court on Monday and pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and driving alone on a temporary permit.
She was released after signing for a $2,500 personal recognizance bond, meaning she didn’t have to pay anything.
Miller told police she was driving near the club when she saw two cars in front of her, and the people inside were shooting at each other.
Miller said she “panicked and turned into the Boogie Down Club to avoid the gunfire.” She turned the vehicle into people standing at the entrance to the club, police said. The vehicle continued on until it hit the building.
An officer found Miller walking near the accident scene. Inside the cruiser, Miller apologized.
A short time later, police learned that a 19-year-old Ogden Avenue Northwest had been shot in the foot, apparently as a result of the gunfire in front of the club.
At St. Elizabeth Health Center, a 20-year-old Hamilton Street Southwest woman was treated for a broken pelvis from being hit by the car.
And, a 21-year-old Fairport Harbor man was in critical condition Sunday at University Hospitals in Cleveland with injuries he suffered from being hit by the car.
The manager of the club told police a fight among several females occurred in the tavern and then moved outside and stopped. Just after that, gunfire from the two vehicles passing in front of the club took place, the manager said.
Police said Monday morning that the individuals doing the shooting had not been identified.
