BOARDMAN

Stadium Drive Elementary, 111 Stadium Drive, will have an open house for parents and students of the Boardman Local School District on Wednesday.

The kindergarten and first-grade open house is set for 5:30 p.m.; second and third grades at 6:15; and fourth grade at 7.

Citywide cleanup

YOUNGSTOWN

A citywide litter cleanup and a tire recycling drive will be based at the Covelli Centre on Saturday.

Participants in the citywide cleanup may pick up supplies and borrow tools at the Covelli Centre, 229 E. Front St., for the cleanup, which runs from 8 a.m. to noon.

Mahoning County residents may bring their scrap tires to the Covelli Centre for recycling from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Up to 10 passenger car tires per vehicle will be accepted free of charge.

A $1.50 fee per passenger car tire will be charged thereafter.

Light-truck and semi tires will be accepted for a fee varying according to tire size.

The events are sponsored by Youngstown Litter Control and Recycling, the Mahoning County Recycling Division and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

Shooting probed

WARREN

Someone was shot in the foot outside a private motorcycle club on West Market Street, and two people were hit by a car in the club’s parking lot and taken to a local hospital between 4:30 and 5 a.m. Sunday.

The events occurred outside the Boogie Down Motorcycle Club, and police found shell casings in the street near the club, said Police Chief Eric Merkel, who added that the driver of the car is in police custody.

Merkel said he did not know additional details concerning the incident.
