Fires reported at 4 vacant homes in Youngstown

City firefighters battled several vacant house fires over the weekend.
About 12:29 a.m. Monday, crews were called to a vacant 48 W. Dewey Ave. home that was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived and was allowed to burn. Damage is listed at $1,200. The cause is listed as arson.
About 12:30 p.m. Sunday, firefighters were called to a vacant 1222 Dale St. home. Firefighters found a blaze in a back room and managed to contain it to there. Damage is listed at $2,500. The cause is listed as arson. A city firefighter was slightly injured.
At 3:41 a.m. Saturday firefighters were called to a 334 N. Truesdale Ave. home that also burned to the ground. Damage is listed at $10,500 and that fire is also listed as an arson.
And firefighters were called to a vacant 423 Sherwood Ave. home about 2:23 a.m. and that house also burned down. Damage there is listed at $6,800. Reports listed the cause of that fire as under investigation.
