Adoption program

Adoption program

WARREN

Northeast Ohio Adoption Services invites Mahoning Valley-area adults, either couples or singles who are considering adoption or giving foster care to a school-age child, to stop in for an informal information session.

The session is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at NOAS offices, 5000 E. Market St., Suite 26. People can stop by to get literature on the subject and to ask questions.

Participants can talk to NOAS staff to learn more about Ohio children and teens who need good families. Successful foster/adoptive families say that getting a few questions answered at the beginning often is helpful.

Nearly 4,000 children in Ohio are waiting to be adopted. For directions and to RSVP, call 800-686-6627, ext. 126.

Raccoon hunters

CORTLAND

Two hunters will be chosen through a public lottery to hunt raccoons in the campground at Mosquito Lake State Park during open raccoon season. The hunt will be done to eliminate a nuisance for campers.

The lottery will take place Oct. 1 at the state park office, 1439 state Route 305.

A postcard with the hunter’s name, address and phone number should be sent by Sept. 30 to the state park office address.

Hunters will not be chosen if they have any previous wildlife violations.

Recycling event

SALEM

Habitat ReStore Northern Columbiana County, 1965 N. Ellsworth Ave., will have a customer-appreciation sale and electronic-recycling event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The event will feature a storewide sale and outside yard sale, in part to celebrate the Salem ReStore’s six years in business. The event will have an electronics-recycling drop-off site where guests can bring broken electronics such as televisions, stereos, printers and computers.

ReStore is an upscale thrift store, with sales benefitting Habitat for Humanity.
