The U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration announced new export data that show merchandise exports from the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman metropolitan area totaled $1.4 billion in 2013.

Key merchandise export categories for the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman metropolitan area in 2013 included transportation equipment, primary metal manufactures, machinery, fabricated metal products and electrical equipment.

Panel predicts sales

A panel of economists at the Center for Automotive Research’s annual Management Briefing Seminars predicted that new car and truck sales will remain around the 17 million vehicle mark through 2018 as consumer confidence continues to improve and consumers continue replacing their older vehicles.

Analysts say there is a drop in younger buyers who are delaying their purchases because of economic factors, such as high student- loan debt.

Steven Szakaly, chief economist for the National Automobile Dealers Association, predicts the sale of 16 million to 16.2 million vehicles this year.

BP leaders program

BP has started its 2015 Future Leaders Programme, a recruitment campaign that targets 30 recruits to be business leaders.

The FLP is a highly selective global recruitment and development program run by BP for candidates around the world to work in its refining and marketing businesses and its safety and operational risk and information technology and services functions.

Applicants are expected to come from a range of backgrounds, having typically studied science, technology, engineering or mathematics subjects to doctoral or master’s levels and/or have a master’s in business administration.

Casino night set

Boardman

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will host casino night at Mill Creek Golf Course, 1 West Golf Drive, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The event includes gaming tables, cash bar and hors d’oeuvres by Blue Wolf Catering.

Leadership seminar

YOUNGSTOWN

GBS Corp. of Canton and Youngstown, along with Transformational Leadership, will host Patrick McBane and Tim Figley for the Transformational Leadership seminar Friday at ITT Technical Institute, 1030 N. Meridian Road.

The seminar is a training session that helps leaders, executives, managers and supervisors identify, address and remove personal, team and systemic constraints.
