Possible electrical fire

A blaze at an 869 Detroit Ave. home just before noon Saturday caused about $10,000 in damage. A fire department spokesman said crews found smoke coming from the second floor when they arrived and had to force their way inside because the home owners were not home. They managed to keep the fire contained to the second floor, the spokesman said. The spokesman said it is suspected that an extension cord may have caused the fire. There were no injuries.
Gas-well fire
SHENANGO, Pa.
A fire at a Pulaski Road gas well owned by Hilcorp Energy at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday caused a brief evacuation of homes around the site.
A statement from the company said a separator at the site caught fire. The separator is used to separate gas, oil and water, the statement said, and it was inside a building at the edge of the well pad. The fire was put out quickly, and there were no injuries. Residents were allowed to come back to their homes about 90 minutes after the fire was reported. Hilcorp is investigating and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has also been notified, the statement said.
