Cops cite three on drug charges

YOUNGSTOWN

Police issued three citations on drug charges Friday night.

About 6:50 p.m. Friday an officer spotted Justin P. Frehs, 34, of Youngstown, walking on a sidewalk in the 200 block of West Chalmers Avenue, but reports said as soon Frehs saw the officer, he began acting nervously and started walking through yards.

The officer stopped and talked to Frehs, who refused a request to be searched; however, he acted as if he were hiding something.

When asked if he had anything illegal, Frehs admitted having a needle he said belonged to his girlfriend, reports said, and he pulled out three needles, then three more needles and a crack pipe. When he was searched, the officers found another crack pipe. He was given a citation for possession of drug-abuse instruments.

About 8:25 p.m., police were called to a home in the 3700 block of Hillman Street for a fight and interviewed two witnesses. One of the witnesses, 19-year-old Maurice Holland, had a warrant on a charge of walking in the roadway and also had a bag of suspected marijuana on him, reports said. He was cited for possession of marijuana and taken to the Mahoning County jail on the warrant.

About 8:50 p.m., officers working a Violence Interruption Patrol stopped a car driven by Omar Robinson, 20, of Youngstown, at South and LaClede avenues because of a loud exhaust, but he refused to give his name and had to be pulled from the car. When he was pulled out, a mason jar of suspected marijuana fell to the ground, reports said. Robinson was cited for possession of marijuana and driving under suspension.
