SENIOR SALUTE — BAND EDITION
SCOTT DONNACHIE (front) and DANIEL SKOLADA.
Name: Scott Donnachie; Daniel Skoloda
Instrument: Trumpet; Trombone
Q. When did you start playing your instrument? Why did you pick the instrument(s) you are playing?
A. Donnachie: I started playing the trumpet in the fifth grade. This will be my eighth year with it. I have always loved the commanding sound the trumpet makes.
Skoloda: I started playing the trombone in the fifth grade because I was told it would be a fun instrument to play.
Q. Best memory of being in band/marching band?
A. Donnachie: We always have a water balloon fight at the end of band camp, and it is tradition that we all team up on Mr. Olesko our band director.
Skoloda: I have really enjoyed going to Massillon Band Night every year. There are many great bands from the northeast Ohio area that also perform.
Q. Why is music important to you?
A. Donnachie: Music is a great way to express yourself. I play a lot of instruments outside of band, and will continue to do so after I graduate. My favorite musical number was definitely “Carry on Wayward Son.”
Skoloda: Music is important because it can bring about emotions and feelings like nothing else can. I have enjoyed playing many of the musical numbers that our band has performed.
Q. If you were speaking to a group of students about joining the band, what would be your number one reason for joining the band?
A: Donnachie: The number one reason would be that you make a lot of terrific friends, and it’s worth the extra work in the summer.
Skoloda: Marching band is a lot of fun. You meet a lot of great people and it is fun.
Q. What college do you hope to attend/intended major?
A. Donnachie and Skoloda both plan to attend Ohio Northern University, with a goal of becoming Doctors of Pharmacy.
