Colts play first match against Boardman

The Austintown Colts opened their season on Aug. 24 with the Boardman Little Spartans.

The 100 pound Colts squad held the Spartans offense for the first half, however the Spartan offense got the best of the Colts defense, leading to their first loss of the season.

The Colts 120 pound team battled the Spartans until the final quarter and suffered their first loss 14-12. There were touchdowns by Donovan Oliver and Devon Winford.

The Austintowns Colts 140 pound squad were victorious against the Spartans offensively and defensively. With multiple touchdowns and 2-point conversions by Julian Johnson, Shakir Perkins, KyRee Long, Tom Cannell and Cal Farina. The Colts defensive line completely shut down the Spartans, as well. Stand outs were Tod Simons with three quarterback sacks, KyRee Long with one interception and Julian Johnson with three interceptions, all leading the Colts to victory over Boardman with a score of 38-8.

The Colts 100 pound and 140 pound junior varsity teams both had wins over the Spartans.
