Mother, 2 sons dead in SW Ohio

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) — Police say a mother and her two sons have died apparently from gun shots in what police suspect is a murder-suicide in southwestern Ohio.

Springfield Police Chief Stephen Moody said in a news conference today that the preliminary investigation indicates that the woman shot her sons and took her own life. He says the woman and her 7-year-old son were found dead at their home, and the injured 10-year-old was taken to a hospital where he died.

Moody says police were called to the scene shortly before 8 a.m. by the children’s father who had gone to pick up the boys for school.
