YOUNGSTOWN

Mill Creek MetroParks will feature two September events in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the closing of Idora Park.

Rick Shale, author of “Idora Park: The Last Ride of Summer,” will present a slide program about the amusement park at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at Pioneer Pavilion.

“Idora: 30 Years Later” will be the theme of a park-sponsored 1-mile hike around the perimeter of the former amusement park at 2 p.m. Sept. 14.

Hikers will assemble in the Lanterman’s Mill parking lot.

Causeway closing

CLARK, PA.

Pa. Route 18 over the Shenango River Reservoir causeway will be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday for the pouring of the bridge deck.

If it rains, the work will be postponed one night.

Traffic will be detoured over Pa. Routes 18, 518 and 846 and Rutledge Road.

Fire investigated

HARTFORD

A fire at Joseph Badger Meadows, a camp and conference center for Eastminster Presbytery at 7266 Hayes Orangeville Road, caught fire Monday, sending multiple fire departments to the rescue.

According to a dispatcher with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office, departments responded to the fire about 4:30 p.m. and were on site until about 6 p.m. No injuries were reported and the scene is now clear.

Brookfield, Vernon, Orangeville, Kinsman, Fowler, Vienna, the Youngstown air base and South Pymatuning fire departments were among those that responded to the fire.

The dispatcher said a commercial building caught fire. Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
