Five former Poland athletes will be inducted into the Poland Athletic Hall of Fame on Sept. 19 before the Poland-Columbus Bishop Watterson football game.

Softball player Katie Lamport Glatzer pitched her way into Poland’s record books during her four years. She earned all-conference honors in her sophomore, junior and senior years and made first team all-state as a senior.

She went on to play at Malone University and was a first team All NCSAA All-American her senior year.

Jessica Marino participated in soccer, tennis and track in her time at Poland. She was most successful in soccer making first team all-conference, all-district, and all-state her senior season.

She earned a soccer scholarship to the University of Richmond and was co-captain as a senior.

Kristy Gaudiose played basketball and softball for the Bulldogs. She was a four-year letter winner on the court. She is Poland’s all-time leading scorer and later played at Youngstown State.

Jim Knoop earned four letters in gymnastics. In his four years, he moved up in the state contest and was the state all-around champion in 1989.

He also was the 1989 national champion and later became a four-time All-American at Ohio State University.

Jim Timko played baseball and basketball for Poland. He was first team all-state his senior year.

He was all-conference as a point guard in basketball. He later pitched at Youngstown State University and earned three varsity letters.

A tailgate party is set before the game to honor the inductees.
