Ohio Gov. John R. Kasich and Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor issued a resolution today recognizing September 1, 2014, as Labor Day and encouraged all Ohioans to join in recognizing the achievements of our state’s working men and women and to thank them for their contributions to our state and nation.
“Labor Day was created to honor and recognize the social and economic achievements of the hardworking men and women of our state and nation," Kasich and Taylor noted. They encouraged all Ohioans to join in recognizing "the ingenuity, skill and motivation of American workers that have helped our state and nation to be leaders in an increasingly competitive global economy.”
"Each day, 5.3 million Ohioans leave their homes to go to work, many to potentially high-risk occupations where they could be injured or even killed. On this day, Ohioans should pause and remember all of the dedicated workers whose jobs put them in harm's way and who have been injured or killed."
