Alton Brown coming to theater

CLEVELAND

Renowned “foodist” and TV personality Alton Brown brings his Alton Brown Live! The Edible Inevitable Tour to the State Theatre on Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. The Food Network star’s show blends comedy, talk-show antics, a multimedia lecture, live music (he sings), a dash of “extreme” food experimentation, and puppets.

Salem youth theater plans open house

SALEM

Salem Community Theatre’s youth theater will host an open house Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. New classes designed and taught by veteran actress and vocalist Niki Slaven of Leetonia will be outlined.

The Saturday classes begin Nov. 15. Fees will be discussed at the open house. The theater is at 490 E. State St. For information, call 330-332-9688.

The classes will cover acting, improvisation, character development, vocal projection, audition preparation, styles of dance, singing and more. They will be divided into age groups and experience levels, and will include performances or recitals to demonstrate the skills that have been learned.
