A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Oct. 23
Burglary: Occurred in the 2300 block of Hamilton Avenue, where 120 feet of copper piping worth about $300 was taken.
Criminal damaging: A 64-square-foot section of a driveway sustained $300 in damage at a home in the 6100 block of Acatello Place.
Oct. 24
Recovered property: Numerous pieces of property were found at a Riley Street residence in Struthers as part of an investigation regarding multiple car break-ins in the township.
Oct. 27
Recovered property: A 6-inch stick of dynamite was found in the 4700 block of Miller Road.
Oct. 28
Theft: Miscellaneous beauty products were stolen from a residence in the 7300 block of Clovermeade Avenue.
BOARDMAN
Oct. 25
Assault: Authorities took 29-year-old Catherine Garcia into custody at her Paxton Road residence on two misdemeanor assault charges. The Boardman woman was accused of spraying a man and his girlfriend with pepper spray during a Sept. 18 altercation.
Assault: A man and his girlfriend each reported having been assaulted by the other during a fight near Mathews Road and Helo Place.
Theft/assault: A Beech Avenue woman alleged a man stole her iPhone and $5 after pulling her hair and trying to choke her.
Arrest: A vehicle check near Lake Park Road led to the arrest of 47-year-old Anthony L. Foose of West Princeton Avenue, Youngstown, on a charge of violating a protection order. The woman who had signed the order was in the car with Foose, police said.
Criminal mischief: Someone drove through and damaged part of a front lawn in the 8100 block of Hunting Valley Drive.
Misuse of a credit card: A Ridgewood Drive man noticed on his credit-card statement two fraudulent charges totaling about $189.
Theft: Elizabeth D. Jackson, 44, of Romaine Avenue, Boardman, was charged with stealing about $54 worth of clothing from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall.
Theft: An Eisenhower Drive man alleged his two roommates stole $6,000 from his bedroom.
Arrest: Officers responded to a Doral Drive store regarding a woman possibly in distress before arresting 19-year-old Demario A. Hoyt of Mathews Road, Boardman, on charges of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, tampering with evidence and resisting arrest. Hoyt, who had a loaded .38-caliber firearm he tried to hide from police, also struggled with them, a report said.
Domestic violence: Police charged Anthony C. Warren of Shadyside Drive, Boardman, with one felony count of domestic violence after his girlfriend alleged that during an argument, the 48-year-old Warren man had flown into a rage and squeezed her throat, then threatened to kill her and burn down the residence. Warren admitted having served time for a prior conviction, a report stated.
Theft: A man in his mid- to late 20s stole an item from Dollar General, 4996 Market St.
Oct. 26
Arrest: Authorities charged Logan M. Jones of state Route 45, Salem, with possession of criminal tools, obstructing official business and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle after saying he had a loaded gun in his car. Jones, 24, also fled from a checkpoint area before being arrested near Shields Road, police said.
Theft: Jacwana L. Colpetro, 22, of Hillman Way, Boardman, and 36-year-old Alisha T. Morris of Pointview Avenue, Youngstown, were charged in the theft of roughly $329 worth of clothing from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive. Morris also was wanted on a warrant charging theft.
Citation: A traffic stop near a Mahoning County Operating a Vehicle Impaired Task Force checkpoint led to a citation charging 21-year-old Jose A. Colon of Southern Boulevard, Boardman, with operating a vehicle impaired.
Domestic violence: A township boy, 16, was charged with two counts of domestic violence and one of drug possession after his parents alleged the teen had punched and threatened to kill both of them. The boy’s father handed to police a piece of foil that contained a suspected marijuana cigarette, a report showed.
Theft: A man in his mid-30s stole $7 worth of deli meat from Walmart.
Arrest: William C. Oliver, 43, of Melrose Avenue, Boardman, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired after having driven past a police checkpoint near Market Street.
Drugs: Authorities stopped a vehicle on Market Street, where they arrested Emily R. Burr, 23, on charges of operating a vehicle impaired, drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia, and issued her a citation charging drug abuse (marijuana). Burr, of Superior Avenue, Youngstown, also had five prescription pills, a report showed.
Oct. 27
Arrest: Authorities took 19-year-old Andrew S.D. Strickland into custody at Southern Park Mall. Strickland, of West Warren Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a Trumbull County warrant charging him with a probation violation.
Domestic violence: Police arrested 26-year-old Rydell B. Duke at the Mahoning County jail. Duke, of Cohasset Drive, Youngstown, was wanted on a felony domestic-violence warrant.
Drug paraphernalia: Officers picked up Veronica A. Aiosa, 45, of Mount Vernon Street, Struthers, on a warrant charging possession of drug paraphernalia related to a June 14 drug overdose at a Market Street motel, where a suspected crack-cocaine pipe was found, a report showed.
Domestic violence: A 14-year-old Boardman boy faced two domestic-violence counts after his mother alleged the teen had slammed his sister’s head into a glass counter during an argument, then punched the accuser’s head and squeezed her left arm.
Harassment: A Meadowbrook Avenue woman said she’s received several unwanted calls and text messages since mid-September.
Menacing: A Wildwood Drive woman told police a woman stopped at the accuser’s home and claimed the residence was under 24-hour surveillance because of supposed complaints regarding the homeowner’s dogs.
Misuse of a debit card: A township woman found out her debit card had been used to make several unauthorized transactions in the Canton area that totaled $767.55.
Theft: An 8-foot-by-14-foot utility trailer was removed from a rear parking lot in the 6600 block of Market Street.
Theft: Two men stole a jacket, a sweatshirt and various articles of men’s clothing from Fin, Feather and Fur Outfitters, 1138 Boardman-Poland Road.
Oct. 28
Arrest: Authorities responded to a one-car crash in the 4100 block of Baymar Drive, where they charged 20-year-old Ravyn A. Taylor of Western Reserve Road, Salem, with operating a vehicle impaired. Taylor’s blood-alcohol count was 0.159, nearly twice the legal limit, police said.
Theft: A handgun, a head lamp and a Bluetooth device were stolen from Walmart.
Theft: Police charged 30-year-old Melissa S. Mills with theft after alleging Mills, of East Western Reserve Road, Poland, had stolen roughly $61 worth of women’s clothing from Walmart.
Counterfeit: A man passed a phony $20 bill at Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 500 block of East Western Reserve Road was found with damage to its driver’s side and front fender. The damage estimate was $500.
Theft: Police in the 8100 block of Market Street picked up 18-year-old Shavell R. Blackmon of Ferncliff Drive, Boardman, on a warrant charging her with two counts of theft related to a Sept. 13 shoplifting situation in which $665 worth of clothing was stolen from the J.C. Penney store.
Theft: A large group of patrons left Steak ‘n’ Shake, 6786 Applewood Blvd., without paying a $16 food bill.
Identity fraud: Timaira M. Gandy, 24, of North Hazelwood Avenue, Youngstown, surrendered on a felony identity-fraud charge after a Lockwood Boulevard man had discovered two fraudulent transactions to his checking account that totaled $100.
Theft: A Poland woman discovered her $700 iPhone missing while in a check-out lane at a Doral Drive big-box store.
Oct. 29
Arrest: Officers investigating a possible burglary on Paxton Road charged 43-year-old Denise K. Brown of Paxton, Boardman, with obstructing official business after alleging Brown had provided false statements regarding an attempted burglary, which hampered an officer from another investigation.
