Ham radio classes to begin Nov. 5

YOUNGSTOWN

Western Reserve Amateur Radio Club will begin classes for the entry-level Technicians Class license, which is the first of three levels of operating privileges.

The General Class and Amateur Extra Class are the next two levels, and one must hold the Technicians license before going to the next level.

Morse code is no longer required to get a license.

Classes will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday through Dec. 10 at ITT Tech, 1030 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.

An American Radio Relay League registered instructor will conduct the class, and local certified ARRL/W5YI volunteer examiners will administer the exam at the end.

There is no charge for the classes, but you must pre-register by Monday and buy the Technicians Class book by Gordon West, WB6NOA. For information and to buy the book, call Al Avnet, AB8AA, at 330-549-3051 or email ab8aa@arrl.net.
