Girls 10U softball has successful season

Neighbors | Submitted.Recently, the Lady Spartans Fast Pitch Club 10U team captured the championship of the Alliance Fall League. The team compiled a 7-2 record during the season, earning them the number one seed in the one-day, double elimination tournament. The Lady Spartans were managed by Jim Goske. Coaches were Rob Eicher, Tracy Kinderdine and Jason Triveri.

Recently, the Lady Spartans Fast Pitch Club 10U team captured the championship of the Alliance Fall League. The team compiled a 7-2 record during the season, earning them the number one seed in the one-day, double elimination tournament. Sarah Kinderdine led the girls in hitting through the regular season.

In their first game of the tournament, the Lady Spartans defeated Minerva by a score of 8-3, behind a strong pitching performance from Nadia Rawhneh. Rawhneh recorded eight strikeouts and gave up two hits for the game, and also led the Lady Spartan hitting attack with a double. Cami Goske also contributed offensively with a bunt single, scoring the first run of the game. Also scoring for the Lady Spartans were Gia Triveri, Cassidy Bryan, Reagan Smith, Hannah Saluga, Madison Lester, Jenna Madick and Natalie Davis. Lydia Eicher led Boardman with a strong performance behind the plate.

The Lady Spartans advanced to the semi-final game, and defeated West Branch 12-6 behind the five strikeout, one hit pitching of Cami Goske. Offensively, Reagan Smith led the way with two singles, while Alyssa Norton added a double. Saluga and Rawhneh chipped in, each with a single of their own. Goske, Triveri and Bryan each scored twice.

The win over West Branch launched the Lady Spartans into the championship of the double-elimination tournament, where Alliance-Marlington would have to take down Boardman twice to take the championship. Alliance got the win in the first game by a score of 8-5 despite an 11-strikeout performance by Natalie Davis. Davis recorded 11 of 15 outs by sitting down the Alliance hitters. Boardman was led offensively with singles from Cami Goske, Ayva Fedor, Cassidy Bryan, Alyssa Norton and Reagan Smith.

The win by Alliance-Marlington forced a final game, where the girls from Boardman brought home an 11-5 win for the title. Nadia Rawhneh picked up her second mound win on the day, fanning four batters. Alyssa Norton stayed hot at the plate, hitting a double and a single, driving in two RBI’s and scoring twice. Goske and Bryan each added a single.
