As they did last year, residents and staff at Brookdale Senior Living Clare Bridge of Austintown, located at 1420 S. Canfield Niles Road, made cookies which were presented to local police officers and firefighters on Sept. 11 in honor of 9/11 for an event called a Good Deed.
“We wanted to recognize our local firefighters and police officers for all that they do as well,” Brookdale program coordinator Vanessa Montgomery said.
Two associates and five residents participated in making five dozen Brookdale Signature cookies, which were white chocolate macadamia nut cookies.
Montgomery said she felt the event was a big success.
“It was great and much appreciated by the officers and firefighters,” she said.
Brookdale resident Freda Kuntz was also pleased with the Good Deed event.
“Baking the cookies made me happy,” she said. “I hope they tasted good.”
