Brookdale Senior Living Clare Bridge of Austintown, located at 1420 S. Canfield Niles Road, helped celebrate National Assisted Living Week on Sept. 12 with an Elvis Presley concert event.

“We thought that an Elvis impersonator on the last day would be something that our residents could relate to,” Brookdale program coordinator Vanessa Montgomery said.

Approximately 25 residents and 10 family members were in attendance to hear the performance by Elvis impersonator John Hupka.

During the 90-minute performance, Hupka sang all of Elvis’ most popular songs.

Montgomery said she and the residents enjoyed the concert.

“It was awesome,” she said. “Our residents enjoyed it very much. Some got souvenir scarves from Elvis, others got teddy bears and leis.”

Brookdale resident Marguerite Cronin was excited when she got a chance to dance with Elvis.

“Wait until I tell my family that I danced with Elvis. They will never believe me,” she said.
