Boardman Center defeats Boardman Glenwood

On Oct. 25 at the annual Spartan Bowl at the Spartan Stadium, the Boardman Glenwood football team lost a hard fought game to Boardman Center 14-0. BGMS played hard throughout the game and kept Center scoreless in the first half. However, Center wore down BGMS in the second half to take control of the game. BGMS finished the season 0-7.

BGMS defeats Center

On Oct. 22, a combined Boardman Glenwood Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade football team defeated Boardman Center 20-6 at the new turf field at the Boardman High School Fitness Center Complex. Tim Bowser sparked the offense with touchdown runs of 4- and 2-yards, also adding a 2-point conversion run. Zach Ryan hit Jimmy Blount on a 27-yard touchdown pass to cement the win for BGMS. Defensively, BGMS was led by interceptions from Blount and Ryan Archey along with quarterback sacks from Raul Hernandez and Justin Fernberg.

New asketball tournament announced

The first Canfield Cardinals fifth- and sixth-grade boys basketball tournament will take place on Dec. 6, 7, 13 and 14 at Canfield Village Middle School. This tournament is limited to 16 teams in each grade level and the cost is $125 with a four game guarantee. The weather is getting colder and it’s now winter sports season. Neighbors wants to be there every step of the way. If you’re a winter sports coach or the parent of an athlete, we need you help. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages. We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in.
