Exhibit on Simon’s life to debut at Rock Hall
CLEVELAND
An exhibit chronicling Paul Simon’s career will debut at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
The Rock Hall announced Wednesday that “Paul Simon: Words & Music” will feature a first-person narrative from Simon. It is a first for the museum.
The exhibit in Cleveland will showcase more than 80 artifacts, including Simon’s first acoustic guitar, Simon & Garfunkel’s original recording contract, handwritten lyrics for “The Boxer” and a letter Simon wrote as a teen from summer camp to Art Garfunkel.
Simon was inducted into the Rock Hall as a solo artist and as one-half of Simon & Garfunkel.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the duo’s debut album, “Wednesday Morning, 3 AM.”
The 73-year-old Simon has won 12 Grammys.
The exhibit opens today.
Affleck, Adams back bat-protection efforts
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich.
Two of the stars of the upcoming movie “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” have added some Hollywood heft to a Detroit-area group’s efforts to protect bats.
Ben Affleck, who plays Batman in the movie; Amy Adams, who plays Lois Lane; and Zack Snyder, the film’s director, appear in an Organization for Bat Conservation video posted online Monday to coincide with National Bat Week. Some of the movie is being filmed in Detroit.
The Detroit Free Press reported that the inspiration for the public service announcement was a National Public Radio story that Snyder heard on white- nose syndrome, a fungal disease that’s devastating U.S. bat populations.
Materials from the film’s sets are being repurposed to build bat houses.
