World Series not so gripping to TV viewers

There’s a World Series going on, television fans. Not that many people seem to care.

The Fall Classic between Kansas City and San Francisco, which was headed to its sixth game Tuesday night, has only served to amplify baseball’s loosening grip on armchair fans, particularly in comparison with professional football.

Through five games, the Series has averaged 12.07 million viewers on Fox, the Nielsen Co. said.

Here are Nielsen’s top programs for Oct 20-26:

1. NFL Football: San Diego at Denver, CBS, 20.22 million.

2. NFL Football: Green Bay at New Orleans, NBC, 18.8 million.

3. “NCIS,” CBS, 17.13 million.

4. “NCIS: New Orleans,” CBS, 16.13 million.

5. “The Big Bang Theory,” CBS, 16.02 million.

6. “The Walking Dead,” AMC, 13.8 million.

7. “Sunday Night NFL Pre-Kick,” NBC, 13.55 million.

8. NFL Football: Houston at Pittsburgh, ESPN, 13.28 million.

9. “60 Minutes,” CBS, 13.23 million.

10. World Series Game 2: San Francisco at Kansas City, Fox, 12.92 million.
