The Youngstown Central Area Community Improvement Corp. board of directors will meet in a closed executive session at noon and will have a regular public meeting at 12:30 p.m. today in the second-floor conference room at the Mahoning County Children Services Board building, 222 W. Federal St.

Poland trustees to meet

POLAND

The Poland Township trustees will have a special meeting at 5 p.m. today in the township government center, 3339 Dobbins Road.

MVSD directors

MINERAL RIDGE

The Mahoning Valley Sanitary District will have its regular board of directors meeting at 4 p.m. today in the assembly room at the district’s offices, 1181 Ohltown-McDonald Road.

Burglary reported

CAMPBELL

A Madison Avenue resident reported a burglary at her residence at 3:19 a.m. Tuesday. The resident said she woke up in her bedroom and heard people walking around her home.

One of the people walked into her bedroom, but she said she could not see the person. She heard other people rummaging through items downstairs.

When the people were gone, the resident checked her home and saw that a 60-inch flat- screen TV had been taken, and an air-conditioning unit in a window had been punched out.

Man robs Subway

YOUNGSTOWN

An armed robber got away with cash from a West Side sandwich shop about 9:35 p.m. Monday.

Police were called to the Subway at 3212 Mahoning Ave., where employees told them a masked gunman got inside through a back door that was left open because it was warm inside the restaurant.

The robber got money from the register and left, reports said.

No bomb found

YOUNGSTOWN

Police spent about two hours Tuesday checking for a bomb in the parking lot of the Rite Aid on Youngstown-Poland Road but found nothing.

Officers were called to the store about 1 p.m. by a man who said there was a car in the lot that had a bomb inside.

The fire department also responded, as well as the bomb squad, but nothing was found. They cleared the store about 3 p.m. Struthers police also assisted.

Man charged in assault

NILES

Bond is set at $50,000 for Anthony R. Little, 37, of Salt Springs Road in Mineral Ridge, charged with felonious assault and carrying concealed weapons.

Weathersfield police said the charges stem from a fight Saturday between Little and his 56-year-old uncle, who lives in McDonald, at the house where Little lives with his mother. Little reportedly cut his uncle’s face and hands several times with a pocketknife, police said.

Police arrested Little at 2:44 a.m., and he was arraigned Monday in Niles Municipal Court. The uncle was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment.

Criminal-mischief case

BOARDMAN

A criminal-mischief report was filed after a Boardman High School student reported to the township police officer stationed at the school that the word “snitch” had been written on his car.

The victim told police Friday he believed the incident was related to a rumor that he had told school officials information that led to other students getting disciplined after an incident last week.

The officer found that someone had written on the victim’s car using black wax pencil while the car was parked in the school’s parking lot.

Man shoots at car

A 38-year-old city woman told police she was driving along Erie Street on the South Side about 6 p.m. Tuesday and stopped for the red light on East Lucius Avenue, when a man she didn’t know got out of an SUV parked in a driveway along the street and came running toward her car, screaming profanities.

As he got closer, the woman got scared and drove away, heading north on Erie. She told police the man pulled out a gun and shot at her car, shattering the back window. She was not injured.

Police probe robbery

GIRARD

Police are investigating an 11 p.m. Monday armed robbery on Crumlin Avenue.

Four people were in the house at the time, according to the report. One of the victims told police they were in the kitchen when they heard a knock at the door.

The victim said he answered and was met by a large man wearing a bandanna over his face. The man pointed a handgun at him. Behind him was a second man, who was tall and skinny.

The larger man ordered all four of the victims to the kitchen floor at gunpoint. One suspect stayed on the first floor, and a third suspect went upstairs, police were told.

Reported stolen were two Xbox 360s, a Samsung Galaxy S5, an iPhone 4, a PS3, a Home Savings debit card, a chrome metal wallet, a Social Security card, Jordan shoes and an Ohio driver’s license.

STRUTHERS

The annual Fall Fest Parade at Struthers Elementary School will begin on Ninth Street at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

If there is inclement weather, the activities will be moved indoors.
