Huntington to offer incentive program
WARREN
Huntington will present a check for $5,000 for the side-lot incentive program to Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership, a nonprofit community development corporation in Warren.
The program allows eligible residents who have purchased a side lot from the Trumbull County Land Bank to receive a $250 gift card to Lowe’s to purchase supplies needed for improvements to their new lot.
Lowe’s has provided an additional 10 percent discount on items purchased with the gift card.
New Outer Limits training facility opens
POLAND
Outer Limits Athletic Performance, a training facility, opened its second location in Poland on Sept. 22.
The facility features a 40-yard field turf, stability and balance training equipment, flexbands, free weights, plyometric and other specialized equipment.
Outer Limits is dedicated to training only athletes involved in organized sports ranging from middle-school to professional levels.
Rise in agreements for homes, condos
COLUMBUS
The Ohio Association of Realtors reports the number of single-family homes and condominiums put under agreement in September increased 8.2 percent from the level posted during the month a year ago.
The rate of purchase contracts in September rose 11.7 percent from the pace recorded in August 2014.
Officials will act to strengthen US manufacturing

President Barack Obama’s administration announced new executive actions Monday to strengthen U.S. manufacturing based on recommendations from the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership.
The final report focuses on three areas that support U.S. manufacturing: spurring innovation, workforce development and improving the business climate.
Production of natural gas soars in WV panhandle
WHEELING, W.Va.
Natural-gas production in West Virginia’s Northern Panhandle has soared as drilling has increased in the Marcellus and Utica shales.
The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register reports that state data show natural-gas production in Ohio County jumped from 84,000 cubic feet in 2011 to 22.6 billion cubic feet in 2013.
Wetzel County’s production jumped from 9.6 billion cubic feet in 2009 to 114.7 billion cubic feet in 2013.
Natural-gas production in Brooke County rose from 1.4 million cubic feet in 2012 to 8 billion cubic feet in 2013. There was no natural-gas production in the county from 2009 to 2011.
Statewide production increased from 265.3 billion cubic feet in 2009 to 742.4 billion cubic feet in 2013.
