The 16th annual Candlelight Vigil will take place on National Suicide Survivors Awareness Day at 6 p.m. Nov. 15 at Victory Christian Center, Warren Campus, 4257 Tod Ave. NW.
The Candlelight Vigil, coordinated by L.O.S.S., Loving Outreach Surviving Suicide, and S.O.S., Survivors of Suicide of Help Hotline Crisis Center Inc., is in remembrance of loved ones who died by suicide. Anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide is welcome and encouraged to bring photos or signs.

Safety courses

Patient appreciation
HERMITAGE, PA.
The Cancer Care Center of Sharon Regional Health System, 2320 Highland Road, Hermitage, is hosting a patient appreciation day from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Current and former patients of the center and their family members and friends are offered complimentary refreshments with the staff and tours of the center.
In addition to medical oncology services, the Cancer Care Center offers PROVENGE prostate cancer treatment, a linear accelerator for radiation therapy, lab and social work services, and a physical therapy center for cancer rehab. For information, call 724-983-5900.
Volunteer training
POLAND
Hospice of the Valley, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, is offering volunteer training from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Fridays through Nov. 21. For information, call 330-549-5908. Volunteers are needed in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties in Ohio and Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties in Pennsylvania.
Volunteers are trained to provide respite to the family members, at home or in a nursing home, and serve in a variety of other ways as well such as for answering phones at the Hospice House, mailings, clerical, staffing health fairs and special events.
Coping with grief
HERMITAGE, PA.
The Hospice and Palliative Care Program of Sharon Regional Health System is sponsoring a four-week educational series on “Coping with Grief During the Holidays” from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays beginning Nov. 4.
The sessions are at the Library Conference Center of Sharon Regional’s Cancer Care Center, 2320 Highland Road, Hermitage. Topics include spirituality and coping with grief, grief and the holidays, memories and rituals.
