ALTERNATIVE EVENTS
Austintown: The Austintown Board of Education and central office administrators will offer a Trick or Treat on Friday at Falcon Stadium, 4560 Falcon Drive. Elementary school children dressed in Halloween costumes, accompanied by a parent or guardian, are welcome at the stadium from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m, before the football game between Fitch and Cardinal Mooney. The game’s kick-off is at 7:30. The event will not affect the Austintown Township trick or treating hours, taking place 5 to 7 p.m. the same day.
Hubbard: Artist Chris Yambar will visit the Hubbard Public Library, 436 W. Liberty St., 5 p.m. Thursday for a “Meet and Greet Trick or Treat” event. He will read from his children’s book “Midnight Nursery.” Yambar will have copies of his book and comics available for sale at the meet and greet.
North Jackson: North Jackson Citizen’s Association will host a “Halloweeniefest” from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the gazebo, 10613 Mahoning Ave. Note that the festival will take place during the same hours as Trick or Treat in the township.
Youngstown: A Safe Halloween Night event, sponsored by the Black Knights Police Association, Youngstown Department of Parks and Recreation and the Penrose Management Co., will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Arlington Heights Recreation Center, 903 Otis St. Refreshments, entertainment, and games for children 12 and under will be offered. Prizes will be awarded for best costume and most original costume. An adult must accompany children.
Youngstown: Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 505 Parkcliffe Ave., has collaborated with the Stambaugh School to host a Trunk or Trick event for area youth 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Area residents are welcome to participate and distribute candy, treats and information to youth and their families. Costumes are optional.
Youngstown: The Youngstown Police Athletic League will host a free Halloween Party for children age 13 and younger at its headquarters, 4140 Southern Blvd., from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Refreshments, games and entertainment will be provided in a safe environment. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Prizes will be awarded for best costume. Organizers welcome any donations of candy, cookies, cupcakes, pizza, hot dogs, buns, juice, chips, and gift certificates. Volunteers are invited to participate.
