Dog bites Austintown child

AUSTINTOWN

A 5-year old girl suffered a “severe laceration” to her head from a dog bite Sunday in the township.

According to a police report, the girl and a friend were walking a Mastiff in a yard on South Canfield-Niles Road. After walking the dog, they were also playing with it when the dog attacked the girl, causing the injury.

The girl was taken to an area hospital for treatment and the dog was put back in its yard.
