Youngstown police investigate 13th homicide of 2014

YOUNGSTOWN

Police have a person of interest in the city’s 13th homicide of 2014 that happened at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of East Boston Avenue.

The victim is Shaniece Wells, 23, of Maplewood Avenue. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center and later transfered to St. Elizabeth in Youngstown, where she died.

She suffered one or more gunshot wounds, the police report said.

Emergency room personnel alerted police.

Police are continuing their investigation.

Last year at this time, the city had recorded 14 homicides.
