NFL news and Notes

San Diego Chargers: Safety Jahleel Addae didn’t show symptoms of a concussion until Friday afternoon, a day after having two scary reactions following hits in a loss at Denver, a person with knowledge of the situation said.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on Saturday on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the injury.

Addae’s injury gained significant attention after he convulsed while remaining on his feet after a helmet-to-helmet hit late in the third quarter Thursday night. On the game’s first play from scrimmage, Addae made a hit and immediately went limp on the ground.

Addae’s reaction to the second hit caused a stir on Twitter. Many people wondered why he was allowed to remain the game and some compared it to when Chargers four-time Pro Bowl left guard Kris Dielman was staggered after sustaining a career-ending concussion in the sixth game of the 2011 season, at the New York Jets.

Tennessee Titans: Running back Shonn Greene was arrested in a suburban Nashville community for allegedly parking in a handicapped space and speeding away in his luxury car as an officer was issuing a citation.

Greene surrendered to police Friday night after being told warrants had been obtained for his arrest, said police Sgt. Charles Warner in Franklin, Tennessee.

The matter could have been ended with a simple parking ticket, but now Greene faces multiple charges, Warner added.

The veteran running back was charged with driving on a suspended license, reckless driving, failure to stop/halt/frisk and illegal parking, Warner said. All the charges are misdemeanors, he said.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has signed a seven-year extension with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers worth $98 million, making McCoy the highest-paid player at his position.

McCoy, a 2013 All-Pro, will get $51.5 million guaranteed, the most ever given to a defensive tackle in NFL history. His new deal will average $14 million per year.

Including his current salary for 2014, McCoy would make $111 million over the eight-year period.

The deal was concluded Saturday by McCoy’s agent, Ben Dogra, and Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht.
