All Bob Evans locations will offer all-you-can-eat hotcakes for free Nov. 11 to veterans and active-duty military members with valid identification. Company founder Bob Evans was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army during World War II in several posts.

The local Bob Evans locations are at 7437 California Road, Boardman; 4545 Boardman-Canfield Road, Canfield; 3818 Belmont Ave., Liberty; 1100 Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown; and 5413 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles.

Sweeney nominated

YOUNGSTOWN

The nomination of Douglas Sweeney, dealer principal at Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC in Youngstown, for the 2015 Time Dealer of the Year award was announced Friday by Time magazine.

Sweeney is one of a select group of 55 dealer nominees from across the country who will be honored at the 98th annual National Automobile Dealers Association Convention & Exposition in San Francisco on Jan. 23, 2015. The announcement of this year’s nominees was made by Jed Hartman, group publisher, worldwide, Time, and Tim Russi, president of Auto Finance for Ally Financial.

Gasoline prices

YOUNGSTOWN

Ohio’s average gas price has dropped below $3 for the first time in nearly four years, according to AAA. A gallon of regular gasoline in Ohio averaged $2.99 Friday. The last time Ohio’s average gas price dropped below $3 was Dec. 10, 2010. The average cost for gas in the Youngstown-Warren area Friday was $2.97.

New store opens

COLUMBIANA

The Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday at Mercantile on the Square, 14 East Park Ave. The shop is filled with furniture items. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
