Police Wednesday arrested several people on drug related charges following a series of unrelated traffic stops.

About 5:25 p.m., 32-year-old Adam D’Apolito, no address listed, was pulled over in the 2200 block of McCollum Road on the West Side for running a stop sign. Reports said he ducked down like he was trying to hide something and he was very nervous.

Officers called for a police dog who sniffed the air around the car, which led police to a crack pipe and a dose of heroin. D’Apolito was arrested on charges of possession of drugs/heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia and taken to the Mahoning County jail.

At 3:25 p.m. police pulled over a car with expired plates at South and East Marion avenues on the South Side that was spotted earlier in front of a house on East Chalmers Avenue. The driver, 26-year-old Jamie Cunningham, no address listed, had a warrant from Liberty police for soliciting as well as possessing drug paraphernalia, reports said. A passenger who was lying down in the back seat of the car, Susan Reynolds, 29, was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia after a search by a police dog found a purse that had nine needles and two spoons within her reach.

Cunningham faces an additional charge of possession of drug abuse instruments because a crack pipe was found where she was sitting. Both women were taken to the jail.

At 2:10 p.m., Paul Finney, 33, no address listed, was pulled over at Marion Avenue and Market Street on the South Side for failing to stop at a stop sign, reports said. He gave consent to search his car and officers found a dose of heroin inside. He was arrested on a charge of possession of drugs/heroin and also taken to the jail.
