2015 racing days approved for Hollywood Gaming

The racing schedule for the 2015 seasons for Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course were approved Thursday.

The Ohio Racing Commission approved 100 days of live racing for thoroughbred racing. That includes part of this season, which runs Nov. 24 to Dec. 30, then a short break. Racing resumes Jan. 5 to April 25, 2015. Next year’s first half was approved, Oct. 30 to Dec. 29, 2015.

Races will begin at 12:45 p.m. and run Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturday at Hollywood Gaming.

The Ohio Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association, Inc. had struck a deal to offer 25 weeks of thoroughbred racing at two racinos in Northeast Ohio, Cleveland-area based Thistledown Racino and Hollywood Gaming here.

Penn National Gaming, Inc. opened a facility in Austintown and in Dayton this year.

Similarly, 2015 racing dates were also approved for Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway, which runs harness racing. That will run next year from Sept. 14 to Dec. 30, 2015. They run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and begin at 6:35 p.m.
